The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties hosted the fifth annual Founder’s Award Luncheon on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Kravis Center’s Cohen Pavilion.
Lore and John Dodge received the Founder’s Award for their lives of community service and charity. Lore currently serves on the board of the Community Foundation and resides in Palm Beach, Palm City, and New Hampshire.
“My years in Palm Beach and Martin Counties have been so meaningful due in part to the charitable work I have accomplished with many organizations here. John and I tried to live lives of community service and charity. He was my inspiration and I am so thankful to have been involved with the Kravis Center, given many years of service to Hospice, The Ireland Fund, and the Community Foundation, and so many more,” commented Lore Dodge.
“John gave many years of service to the Community Foundation. He was head of the building committee and president of the board,” said Bradley Hurlburt, president and CEO of the Community Foundation. “Now Lore continues his legacy as a board member. We are thrilled to honor the Dodges with the Founder’s Award.”
Keynote speaker Rip Rapson is president, CEO, and trustee of The Kresge Foundation, a private, national foundation dedicated to expanding opportunities in America’s cities through grantmaking and social investing. Rip detailed the importance of community engagement, convening, and partnerships.
Additionally, the Community Foundation shared details from a recent community needs study and recognized the Foundation’s 2017/2018 grant recipients. WPBF25’s own Felicia Rodriguez served as emcee.
Close to 500 attended the luncheon including board members, donors and fund holders, local nonprofit organizations, corporate sponsors and community leaders. The Founder’s Award Luncheon’s founding sponsor is PNC Bank.
