PALM BEACH & MARTIN COUNTIES, FLA. (April 29, 2014) – With only one week until May 6, the community is buzzing with excitement for the GREAT GIVE PBC & Martin. This 24-hour online giving event will raise as much money as possible for 330 local nonprofits in just one day (midnight – 11:59 p.m.).
Hosted by the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, United Way of Palm Beach County, Martin County Community Foundation and United Way of Martin County, this bi-county event will celebrate the spirit of giving and collective effort it takes to strengthen our community. In recognition of this effort, both the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners and the Martin County Board of County Commissioners will be issuing a proclamation declaring May 6 as a “Day of Giving.”
To keep the day fast-paced and excited, United Way of Palm Beach County is hosting several events and on-site promotions throughout Palm Beach County, including a “Giving Makes Me Happy Hour” at Kapow in Boca Raton; “Dive Into Giving” at the Wine Dive in downtown West Palm Beach; and promotions at Panera in CityPlace and the Palm Beach Outlets. The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties will also be hosting a day full of events to celebrate the GREAT GIVE at their headquarters, the Center for Philanthropy at 700 South Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach. The organization’s “Giving Lounge” will be open from 7:00 a.m. until midnight and will have computer stations to encourage donations. There will also be food trucks, activities and performances hosted by the nonprofits, a dance party and prizes throughout the day.
On May 6 anyone can make a secure donation of $10 or more to the charity of their choice by visiting www.GreatGivePBC.org, www.GreatGiveMartin.org or by calling 1-844-GIVE-DAY. Every local gift will be multiplied by $450,000 in bonus funds raised by the Community Foundation.
