The Donor Advised Fund Options

Assets of a private foundation may be used to establish an endowed fund at the Community Foundation, Fund options include a donor advised fund, unrestricted fund, field of interest fund, scholarship fund or designated fund.  Depending on the type of fund that is established, the private foundation's Board of Directors often stays involved in setting grant-making priorities, advising on grant awards and assessing grant success. The Donor Advised Fund offers the opportunity for the most involvement in grantmaking and allows the donor to recommend grants not only to local charitable organizations, but national ones as well. See Types of Funds by clicking on this link, for more detailed information.
