West Palm Beach, FL (September 23, 2013) – Although the Community Foundation’s beautiful building has been in the heart of West Palm Beach for 13 years, the building was officially named as the Center for Philanthropy on September 18th. The naming was celebrated with an official ribbon cutting ceremony.
The name, Center for Philanthropy, reinforces the collective commitment of the Foundation and their tenants to inspire, encourage and demonstrate passionate philanthropy. Built in 2000, the 33,000 square foot building is the Foundation’s headquarters and a space where visitors gather, network and collaborate to address community needs and promote an improved quality of life through the power of charitable giving. The building houses seven tenants, all nonprofit organizations, and recently welcomed its newest tenant, the Palm Healthcare Foundation. The other tenants include Cystic Fibrosis, CredAbility, Partners International Women, R. Cathleen Cox McFarlane Charitable Foundation, Palm Beach International Film Festival and the Knights Hospitallers.
“The Community Foundation has always envisioned the building as a ‘philanthropy on the hill’ concept. It was only fitting to officially name it the Center for Philanthropy as we welcomed Palm Healthcare to the building,” comments Brad Hurlburt, President of the Community Foundation. “We are proud that the Center for Philanthropy brings people together who share the same goal of improving the quality of life in our communities.”
“Palm Healthcare Foundation believes in solving healthcare issues through community-wide collaboration. As such, we are elated to join our new non-profit neighbors at the Center for Philanthropy, resulting in reduced costs and a greater opportunity for collaboration,” stated Andrea Bradley, President and CEO of Palm Healthcare Foundation.
In addition to office space for nonprofit organizations, the building has community rooms and conference space available to nonprofit organizations for special events or educational and charitable activities. The rooms have audio/visual equipment, teleconferencing, internet access and a catering kitchen to host a meeting or event. Last year, 100 events were hosted by local nonprofit organizations at the Center for Philanthropy.
