Bradley Hurlburt Joins the Community Foundation as New President and Chief Executive Officer

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (May 20, 2013) – The Board of Directors of the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties are pleased to announce that Bradley Hurlburt has been named the Foundation’s new President and Chief Executive Officer.  Mr. Hurlburt, a veteran leader and passionate community advocate, comes to the Foundation with 30 years of significant philanthropic experience. He was most recently a Senior Vice President for Development for the WPBT Communications Foundation, an organization that provides financial support to the Community Television Foundation of South Florida, which operates WPBT Channel 2, a public television station.

I am very excited about the Foundation's future under Brad's leadership.”

As a member of the senior management team at WPBT Communications Foundation, Mr. Hurlburt was responsible for building their endowment and leading an annual $7 million voluntary fundraising campaign.  Under his leadership, WPBT’s Program Trust Fund grew from $10 million to $24 million. Prior to WPBT, Mr. Hurlburt served in several development roles including the Director of Regional Development at the University of Miami, Vice President of the Annual Fund at Hastings College Foundation in Nebraska, Senior Development Officer at Northwood Institute in West Palm Beach and Director of Development at Champlain College in Vermont.

In his new role, Mr. Hurlburt will be responsible for implementing the policies and directives of the Board of Directors and the overall growth strategies of the Foundation. He will focus on monitoring and increasing the Foundation’s assets as well as working closely with donors, the nonprofit community, civic and corporate leaders and other engaged citizens to build stronger communities through creative philanthropy, vision and leadership.

Mr. Hurlburt currently chairs the Arts Education Advisory Committee with the Palm Beach County School District. For the past five years, he has judged the Pathfinder Awards and was an active judge for the Dwyer Awards for ten years. He is a past president of the Palm Beach Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and now serves as the Government Relations Chair. He was a member of the Planned Giving Council, the Economic Council and served as president of the board of the Palm Beach Education Foundation.  Mr. Hurlburt is a graduate of Trinity College in Burlington, Vermont and holds a Bachelor of Science.

Mr. Hurlburt succeeds interim president and CEO, Gloria Ortega Rex CPA, who will continue as the Foundation’s Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance and Administration. He will begin his new duties on September 3, 2013, when he also joins the Foundation’s board of directors.

Mr. Hurlburt and his wife have two grown children and reside in North Palm Beach. When he’s not promoting philanthropy, Mr. Hurlburt enjoys spending time on the water boating with family and friends in both South Florida and New England.
