The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties has appointed Sheila Kinman as Vice President for Development.
As Vice President for Development, Kinman is responsible for connecting Community Foundation donors to philanthropic causes they care about, facilitating legacy and planned gifts and establishing charitable funds that impact our local community and nation. She will also work closely with the Foundation’s programming team to join together donors who are interested in co-investing to local charities for greater leveraged impact.
Kinman was most recently the Chief Advancement Officer at the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines. During her seven-year tenure, she was charged with developing an advancement department with formalized goals and structure. Under Kinman’s leadership, the assets grew from $163 million in 2009 to over $440 million. In addition, Kinman focused on developing strategic relationships with professional advisors and grew the Greater Des Moines’ Charitable Investment Program to over $70 million in assets during her tenure. She is also a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP©).
“Sheila is passionate about the role philanthropy plays in shaping a community,” said president and CEO, Brad Hurlburt. “As the Foundation continues to establish charitable funds to help meet our region’s critical needs, we welcome her expertise and are excited to have her on board.”
As one of the largest community foundations in Florida, the Foundation manages an endowment of $154 million, and has been serving the region for over 40 years. Together with its donors, the Foundation makes grants, awards scholarships and leads community efforts to improve the lives and opportunities of residents – both now and in the future.
