Community Foundation Celebrates a Lifetime of Giving

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (December 9, 2014) – The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties hosted an exclusive cocktail reception and dinner on December 4 for donors whose cumulative giving during the organization’s 42-year lifetime totaled $250,000 or more. Guests enjoyed live music in the courtyard, an elegant dinner and a special presentation of engraved medallions to those honored donors who have helped improve the lives of local residents and nonprofits.

During the event, Foundation President and CEO Brad Hurlburt, and Board Chair J.B. Murray, shared stories about how each donor has impacted the community through their generosity.

“The Community Foundation was established in 1972 to build a charitable endowment that will meet the changing needs of the community. It is because of the generosity of our donors, that this organization has grown into one of the largest community foundations in Florida serving two counties and awarding nearly $110 million in grants and scholarships over the past four decades,” said Hurlburt.

Guests in attendance included Foundation board members Lore Dodge, Christina Macfarland, Libby Marshall, David Ober, Caroline Sory, Doug Stockham, Christopher Storkerson, and former board chair, Will Matthews. Kacey Wilcoxson attended on behalf of Roger Dean Stadium, which has a fund at the Foundation to support sports-related activities for children, and Al Malefatto and Nichole Lynch-Cruz accepted the honor on behalf of the Friends of the Gale Academy of Environmental Science and Technology, an endowment fund at the Foundation that supports the magnet program at Forest Hill High School.
