About Us

There are more than 700 community foundations in the United States. Each is created by caring people who share one goal: to strengthen their community through philanthropy. Since 1972, the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties has done just that here in our region.

As a community foundation, we focus on four key goals:

• Provide a strong role of leadership in promoting philanthropy.
• Connect donors and others with opportunities to make a positive difference.
• Address community issues through grantmaking and support of effective nonprofits efforts.
• Identify, lead, and collaborate in our areas of priority in order to leverage our human, financial, and informational capital for achievement of positive change.

Today we are one of the largest community foundations in Florida, helping our donors transform their passions into powerful giving. We are the trusted steward of more than 280 individual funds ranging in value from $10,000 to $20 million, established by area families, private foundations, corporations and area philanthropists. We carefully invest these funds and the income is used to make grants that strengthen our community. 

Together with our donors, we have awarded more than $94 million in grants to thousands of nonprofit organizations locally and nationally. We have worked to address issues of great concern in our communities, including hunger, homelessness, affordable housing and the conservation and protection of water resources. Most importantly, our ability to solve problems, develop partnerships and provide community leadership has helped build long-term positive change in Palm Beach and Martin Counties.

Our funds give our donors the power of a private foundation without the administrative burdens. They appreciate the access to expert advice and professional services of our staff and financial management capacity of an institution managing $140 million in total assets. They have the confidence that they are receiving maximum impact for every dollar granted.
