4th Annual Nonprofits Going Green Contest Winners Awarded on April 16, 2011
|
This year's Nonprofits Going Green event was organized in partnership with West Palm Beach Office of Sustainability at the beautiful Waterfront Commons where we recognized the winners of the 4th Annual Nonprofits Going Green Contest!
Winning nonprofits received special grant awards ranging from $1,650 to $7,500 for their efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle. Barbara Groves Eco-Impact Award” was presented to Faith Farm Ministries (Boynton Beach) who received $7,500. This award, created in honor of a local philanthropist, recognizes the organization that has shown the greatest commitment to greening efforts by reducing energy dependence, limiting waste, and conserving water accomplished through the most cost-efficient means. The “Sustainable Communities Award”, for a total of $6,000, went to Prime Time Palm Beach County (Boynton Beach), for implementation of Project Grow. This project provides the opportunity for afterschool programs, to plant, grow and eat organic food.
The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties is also sharing best practice information and resources to help all nonprofits learn how to be green...and save some green, at a time when it was never more important.
