Nonprofits & the Economy 2011

 

The 2011 results are in!

 

Each year, nonprofits in our community are surveyed to determine the overall state of the nonprofit sector. The Community Foundation, in partnership with Allegany Franciscan Ministries and Quantum Foundation, conducted the 3rd Annual Nonprofit Survey in 2011 to gather data regarding the needs in the community, the state of nonprofits and how best funders could be of assistance.

A total of 170 responses were received representing nearly 9,826 full and part time staff members and 52,246 volunteers. Respondents were asked about their current challenges, the impact the economic downturn has had on the services they offer and their most pressing funding needs.

The survey findings conclude the status of the nonprofit sector seems relatively unchanged from the 2010 survey. However many nonprofits participating in the study reported the recession has adversely affected sources of public and private funding and challenged the sector overall.
