Michelle McGann Fund

"The first time I stepped foot onto a golf course I was only 7 years old,” recalled Singer Island resident and professional golfer Michelle McGann. “It’s my love of the game that has kept me playing one of the most strategic and challenging sports, even when faced with adversity at age 13. It was then I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. But through diet, monitoring and proper medications, my diabetes has proved to be just another challenge in the game.” Michelle holds a 4–0 playoff record that is the best in LPGA history and ranks in the top 50 of all-time LPGA money earners. She has also raised millions, and personally spent thousands of hours benefiting numerous diabetes causes. Michelle established the Michelle McGann Fund at the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties to help children diagnosed with diabetes and support diabetes research. Michelle became familiar with the Community Foundation through her fiancé Jonathan Satter, a longtime Foundation supporter. “The Community Foundation will help me to easily and effectively support this cause so close to my heart,” said Michelle. “Together, donors to the Michelle McGann Fund and I can bring some of the advantages I have enjoyed to other kids with diabetes. This help might mean the purchase of insulin pump therapy equipment, or assistance in the development of physical education programs to encourage children to establish a healthy, active lifestyle. Undoubtedly, it’s these very things that have led me to accomplish the things I love.” |

"My decision to make a donation to the Community Foundation came down to trust. I knew that my dollars would be used to serve the community under the able stewardship of foundation staff."
