Grant Center

At The Community Foundation we believe that one of the best ways to improve our community is by supporting nonprofits doing smart, innovative work in our region. A strong nonprofit region is a collaborative one made up of organizations that effectively manage operations and high-performing programs based on community need. This requires knowledgeable and capable staff, strong leadership, value for innovation, a clear vision and a plan.  The Community Foundations’s competitive grantmaking is supported by many Community Impact Funds, established by visionary philanthropists who have entrusted the Community Foundation to identify and strategically invest in our ever-changing community needs. We make grants in Palm Beach and Martin Counties, to nonprofits large and small, to those we've worked with over the years and those who are new to us.

We are committed to sticking with significant issues that don't lend themselves to quick or easy solutions, and look for projects that take fresh approaches to long-standing issues and that tackle emerging problems and opportunities. For nearly 40 years, we've helped innovative ideas and programs come to life. Our impact can be felt all over Palm Beach and Martin Counties – in our rural communities, our cultural institutions, our neighborhoods, and our schools

About our Grantmaking

Many of the Community Foundation's grants are made from funds that do not accept grant requests. These funds are established and advised by individual donors, and the distributions from the funds are restricted by the donor to specific philanthropic purposes. Grant distributions are made on the suggestion of the donor or fund advisor, with final approval given by the Foundation’s board.

Grants available from the Foundation’s discretionary sources of funding are awarded on the basis of an open and competitive application process. Guidelines, priorities for funding and standards of eligibility must be met in order to apply. Opportunities to apply depend on the availability of funding, which varies from year to year.

The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, age, sexual preference, or national origin.  Applicants for grants from the Community Foundation must hold similar standards. Competitive grant applications from organizations known to have discriminatory policies will not be considered.
